Players, coaches, officials, and supporters must respect each other and the facilities they use.

LEAGUE RULES

F.I.B.A rules will be followed with these exceptions:
  1. No team is allowed to play ZONE DEFENSE. First offense is a warning, second will be a technical foul call resulting in a free throw. Offensive team retains possession after free throw.
  2. A player cannot remain in the opponents' key for more than 5 consecutive seconds, while his/her team is in control of the ball without shooting. To clear out of the key, both feet must be placed on the floor outside the key.
  3. The clock will stop on all free throws during the game. For all dead balls, a continuous clock will be used. During the last shift, the clock should stop on all dead balls.
  4. Each team will have three (3) time-outs per game and can use them during a dead ball situation or when they have possession. These should be called by the players on the court and given by the referees. One new timeout will be awarded in overtime.
  5. Players are not allowed to leave their man to double-team the ball. If beaten, the defensive player can get help from a teammate. Once the offensive player is contained, the help defense must go back and pick up their man. This will prevent crowding the ball and develop skills in a half court setting. Double-teaming is only permitted inside the key.
  6. All games should consist of ten four minute shifts.
  7. There will be a jump ball at the opening of each shift.
  8. During the final shift, full court presses are allowed unless one of the coaches does not agree to use them. This decision must be made before the game begins.
  9. Players from grades 3 to 6 will be able to participate and cannot turn 13 before the final tournaments in April.
  10. Teams should have a minimum of 10 players for any league game with no double shifting. Games can be played with less than 10 provided those players get equal floor time.
  11. Once possession (ball held for a minimum of 2 seconds) is established in the defensive end, opponents must retreat back over half.
  12. Point spread does not exceed 20 on the scoreboard; however, individual statistics should still be kept.
  13. A team is allowed to commit 7 fouls before they are in the penalty. On the 8th foul of the half the team goes into the penalty and 2 bonus shots are awarded. Offensive fouls do count as team fouls. If the team is in the penalty and an offensive foul occurs, there will be no shots awarded because the defensive team has not lost a scoring opportunity. Overtime is an extension of the second half so team fouls do not reset.
  14. If both coaches agree, teams can have a one minute halftime to instruct their players. There should be no players on the court during this time.
  15. Technical fouls will be recorded this year. After a player receives two technicals, they will be suspended from the team for a week and a meeting will be set up between the player, coach and league coordinator.
